Is it necessary to treat water?

Yes, of course, it is unquestionable. There are three ways you can use to treat water: boiling, disinfecting and distilling it. None of these methods is perfect, but combination of the methods is ideal.

Contaminated water not only cause diseases such as dysentery, bilharzia, cholera etc. but also contains bad taste and odor. Although the methods above will remove most of the microbes present in the water, they may not be able to remove heavy metals and salts.

Therefore, before commencing any treatment method, strain the water through a paper or a piece of cloth to get rid of most of these metals and salts. Distillation is perfect in this process, though, it takes significant amount of time.
